On March 21, 2001, the City of Châteauguay, the Association des droits des minorités du Grand Châteauguay and the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse reached an agreement enabling the municipality to proceed with the creation of an equal access to employment program under article 86 of the Charte des droits et libertés de la personne du Québec, pour les femmes, les minorités visibles, les minorités ethniques, les autochtones et les personnes handicapées. The goal is to reach an equal representation of these groups.
