Châteauguay launches its summer program

Monday, 22 June, 2020

Taking advantage of the relaxation of the lockdown measures put in place by government authorities, Ville de Châteauguay is pleased to announce the official launch of its summer program. It has been entirely reviewed to comply with the safety and physical distancing standards adopted to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The festivities begin on the same day as Quebec National Holiday (Saint-Jean Baptiste Day), on Wednesday, June 24, with the virtual broadcast of a concert by the group Noir Silence*, live from the Pavillon de l’île. The show will begin at 8 p.m. To see it, simply go to Ville de Châteauguay’s Facebook page at facebook.com/Chateauguay

On Wednesday, July 1, Canada will be in the spotlight with a show featuring our local artists. Organized in co-operation with the Châteauguay & Valley Irish Heritage Association, the concert will start at 7 p.m., and will also be on our Facebook page at facebook.com/Chateauguay.

For those who don’t have a Facebook account, these two shows will also be broadcast on our YouTube channel at youtube.com/VilledeChateauguay

Finally, on Friday, July 3 at 7 p.m., singer-songwriter Émile Bilodeau* will present a travelling show which will start out from the Ye Old Orchard Pub & Grill (66 boulevard Salaberry Nord). Performing while aboard his show truck, the artist will travel along boulevard Salaberry to the de la Sauvagine Bridge, and will continue along boulevard D’Youville to Saint-Joachim Church. The expected show length is 90 minutes.

In order to allow everyone to attend the performance, people are invited to walk or bike to the site or to park their vehicles in the surrounding streets and not on Salaberry and D’Youville boulevards. This is a one-night event only; there will be no video recording of the show for broadcast on social media. In case of rain, the concert will be postponed to the next day, Saturday, July 4.

Other events to be held throughout the summer will be announced in the coming weeks. Full details will be available shortly on our website at ville.chateauguay.qc.ca/en.

* The concerts of Noir Silence and Émile Bilodeau are in French.
