Châteauguay-Lachine River Shuttle Starts Up

Thursday, 25 June, 2020

The Châteauguay-Lachine river shuttle – a major tourist attraction on île Saint-Bernard in the summer – started up its operations for the 2020 season on June 20.

Linking the cities of Châteauguay and Lachine, the shuttle ferries cyclists and walkers to the Lachine marina after a pleasant journey on Lake Saint-Louis and the Châteauguay River. The crossing takes about an hour. The shuttle will operate on Saturdays and Sundays until September 13, in addition to summer statutory holidays (the next holidays being July 1 and September 7).

The Châteauguay loading dock is located on île Saint-Bernard. There are four departures every day, at 10:15 am, 1:15 pm, 4:15 and 7:15 pm.

There are four other departures every day on the Lachine side to allow passengers to travel to Châteauguay: 8:45 am, 11:45 am, 2:45 pm, 5:45 pm.

The rates for the river shuttle service and all the other details are available on the Navark website, at navark.ca/en/lachine-chateauguay-shuttle. You can pay in advance on their web-based platform, or in cash on the boat.

Ferry crossings in the era of COVID-19

Given the particular circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, the return of the shuttle this year will be somewhat different. Additional measures have been put in place to comply with government health recommendations, including the frequent cleaning of relevant surfaces on board the boat before each departure and contactless payment online. The addition of a second boat will also allow more people to take advantage of the ferry while maintaining physical distancing.

Ville de Châteauguay joins Héritage Saint-Bernard in wishing everyone a pleasant summer on île Saint-Bernard!
