New Ecocentre in Châteauguay
Published on 21 June 2022
Châteauguay, June 21, 2022 – As part of its commitment to offer the citizens of Châteauguay a local service to properly dispose of certain materials that are not accepted as curbside household waste or recyclable waste pick-up, the Ville de Châteauguay is pleased to announce that it has entered into a service agreement with the firm Environmental 360 Solutions, also known as E360S, for the services of operating an ecocentre and managing its waste materials, which will be operational as of July 1, 2022.
The new ecocentre is located at 224 Boulevard Industriel, on the same site as the former Châteauguay ecocentre. This free service is strictly reserved for the use of Ville de Châteauguay residents, as well as non-profit organizations (NPOs) certified by the City, under certain conditions and according to the established eligibility criteria. Citizens may bring up to 3 cubic metres of material per address and per visit, for a maximum of 15 cubic metres per year. However, after five visits, additional fees will apply according to the rate schedule established by the City.
“We’re very proud of this agreement. For us, it was important to restore this local service for citizens as quickly as possible. In addition, the construction of the new ecocentre aligns in a practical way with the City’s vision, which is focused on sustainable development and a circular economy, not only by giving second life to the materials brought by citizens, but also by diverting more waste from landfills,” mentioned Éric Allard, Mayor of Châteauguay.
Due to the upcoming opening of the new Châteauguay ecocentre, the temporary service agreement with the Beauharnois ecocentre will end on June 30, 2022.
“I would like to extend sincere thanks to the City of Beauharnois for having agreed to welcome the residents of Châteauguay in recent months to its ecocentre, thus avoiding an interruption of service for our citizens. I also want to thank our citizens for their patience and understanding,” added Mayor Allard.
Details about the conditions for admission to the site, as well as the materials accepted, will be available soon on the Ville de Châteauguay’s website.
