Return of the Traditional Illuminated Parade on December 4th.

Published on 12 November 2021

On Saturday, December 4th, the magic of Christmas returns to Châteauguay with the event “Châteauguay, A Christmas Story”.

A colourful parade

For this sixth year, in keeping with tradition, Santa Claus and his cheerful friends will parade before your very eyes! The official arrival of the famous character will be highlighted in the evening by a big illuminated parade, along with floats, cartoon characters and dancers moving to the music of the marching bands.

The parade gets underway at 6:45 p.m. in front of Église Saint-Joachim (1 Boul. D’Youville). The procession will wend its way down D’Anjou and Maple Boulevards, heading towards Bibliothèque Raymond-Laberge (25 Boul. Maple).

Street closures

From 5:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., certain streets, such as Boulevard D’Anjou and the Arthur-Laberge bridge, will be closed to traffic. The closure schedule and the different detours possible are available on our website at ville.chateauguay.qc.ca/en/noel-2021.

Call for volunteers

Holding an event of this magnitude represents a huge organizational challenge and would not be possible without the valuable contribution of volunteers. We would ask any citizen wanting to have a front-row seat to the event while at the same time getting involved to ensure its success, to sign up by contacting Chloé Provost at chloe.provost@ville.chateauguay.qc.ca or 450 698-3129. Several assignments are available, including security. EXO shuttle buses will take care of transporting volunteers during the event.

Health guidelines

Masking and physical distancing (at least one metre between each family bubble) are highly recommended. In addition, to avoid there being a crowd at the end of the procession, spectators are asked to find spots all along the parade route on Boulevard D’Anjou.

Holiday lighting contest

To give the city a bright and festive ambiance, the City of Châteauguay is organizing the Châteauguay illuminée! contest. Citizens, merchants and businesses are invited to light up their home or storefront for the entire month of December! Prizes will be given to the most beautifully lit homes and to the business whose light display stands out most. For information and to sign up online, visit ville.chateauguay.qc.ca/en/noel-2021.
