Day Camp

The day camp part of the Activ’Été program is for children from age 5 to 15. The different divisions of the program are offered in different schools in the municipality and are divided by age group:

  • 5–6 y.o.
  • 7–9 y.o.
  • 10–13 y.o.
  • 13–15 y.o.

A team is assigned to each division for the entire summer period. Each team is made up of monitors, integration counsellors and a section leader who supervises and oversees the group. Children from age 7 to 13 must be able to ride a bike in order to take advantage of all the local outings.

In the first week of camp, each child receives a shirt with the Activ’Été logo that they must wear every day for safety and to demonstrate membership in the group.

Every year, a Parents’ Guide is produced to announce all the Activ’Été programs, to help prepare for and plan their children’s summer activities and to offer information about the various policies and procedures. The 2021 version of the guide will be available in the spring. For information purposes, here is the 2020 version of the Parents’ Guide.

  • For children 7 to 13 registered for day camp

The city day camp offers young families a special and unique form of transportation for youth: cycling! Based on the principle of one bus trip in the morning and one at night, hundreds of children move through the streets to get to their activity centre and return home, taking a pre-established route guided by a trained monitor. This concept, which was launched over 25 years ago, is unique in Québec and one of the hallmarks of originality of the Châteauguay summer day camp program.

For obvious safety reasons, the bikes cannot be equipped with training wheels. The child must be at the identified intersection of one of the bike routes to the school where they are registered at 9 in the morning. Please note that the bike routes are no more than 30 minutes long.

Since bicycle helmets are a very good protection measure, we strongly recommend that you get one for your child.

Every year, a Bike Guide is produced showing all the routes for that summer. The 2021 version of the guide will be available in the spring. For information purposes, here is the 2020 version of the Bike Guide.

  • A variety of one-day outings are also offered à la carte, whether or not your child is signed up for day camp. A day at the aquatic park, a visit to the zoo and swimming at the beach are just some of the activities that are usually offered.

The programming for 2021 will be announced in the spring. Stay tuned for new outings!
