New ecocentre in Châteauguay!

The ecocentre of Châteauguay, located at 224 Boulevard Industriel will be operational as of July 1st, 2022 to welcome the citizens of Châteauguay who wish to dispose of certain waste materials. Details about the conditions for admission to the site, as well as the materials accepted, will be available soon.

Ecocentre services temporarily relocated at Beauharnois ends on June 30, 2022

Until June 30, 2022, the citizens of Châteauguay who wish to dispose of materials that are not accepted in the household or recycling collections are invited to bring their waste materials to the ecocentre of Beauharnois, located at 50, chemin des Hauts-Fourneaux in Beauharnois.

An ecocentre is available to residents to collect materials that are not accepted for household waste collection. We collect: bulky waste, construction and demolition materials, hazardous waste, soil, branches, home appliances, etc.

  • To access the Beauharnois ecocentre, Châteauguay citizens must present proof of residence upon arrival at the ecocentre’s reception desk.

    The pricing is calculated according to the total annual volume of materials accepted. Up to 12 m3 at no charge.

    MAXIMUM OF 3 CUBIC METERS PER VISIT

    HHW and materials regulated by a program (compact fluorescent lamps, rimless tires, ITC, etc.) are accepted free of charge at all times.

    * In addition to the basic fees for shingles, concretes, asphalt and bricks.

    Please note that only dry household materials from residential sources will be accepted.

     

  • Only INTERAC method is accepted.  Credit card as well as cash payment are not accepted.

  • The temporary use of the écocentre de Beauharnois is reserved for Châteauguay citizens. Any business or company wishing to dispose of its residual materials can contact companies in Châteauguay offering this type of service.

Answers to your questions

A proof of residence is mandatory and will be required at the entrance of the ecocentre of Beauharnois.

  • Construction materials

    • Brick, aggregate, pavement, asphalt, concrete, lumber, treated wood (painted or stained), melamine, furniture without fabric, gypsum, metal, cement, asphalt shingles, and stone.
      Mixed glass, plastic, electrical wiring and others.

    Household hazardous waste (HHW)

    • Paints: Primers and paints (latex, alkyd, or other), metal or anti-rust paints, aluminum paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, preparation products for the treatment of wood or masonry, aerosol paints, paints for artistic use, primers and paints for industrial use, signaling paints, solvents and thinners, adhesives, tars and tar-based sealers, stucco.
    • Organic Products: Used oils, used oil filters and oil containers, acetone, adhesives, aerosols, solid fire starter, liquid fire starter, rubbing alcohol, glue, wax, antifreeze, caulk, dye, plastic cement, solid fuel, melt fuel, thawing lock, degreaser, oil stain remover, paint thinner, petroleum distillate, ink, epoxy, methanol, naphtha, polish, polyfila, cooking protector, suede or vinyl, liquid resin, silicone sealer, upholstery separator, shoe dye, turpentine, toluene.
    • Inorganic products: Acids, bases (e.g. bleach, Drano), oxidizers (e.g. Ajax, chlorine, peroxide), toxics (e.g. insecticides, algicides, fertilizers, herbicides)

    Other materials accepted

    • Excesss of cardboard.
    • Small appliances and electronics: Televisions, radios, sound systems, telephones, computers, printers.
    • Large, obsolete appliances: Refrigerators, ovens, washers, dryers.
    • Tires: Without rims

    • Radioactive products, PCBs, ammunition, propane (+20 kg), pressurized tanks, explosives, bangal and cyanide fires, garbage bags, flares and green waste (leaves, plants, roots, peat).
    • Non-recyclable plastic: blinds, garden furniture, pool and carport covers, children’s toys, inflatable pools, wading pools, bathtubs, showers, garden hoses
    • Other products: Mattresses, box springs, sofas, armchairs, loveseats, carpets, linoleum, wall-mounted air conditioners, spas, pool filters, tires with rims, truck and tractor tires, asbestos, glass with frames, clothing, textiles, dishes.
    • All materials destined for landfill.
  • Exclusion for Châteauguay residents

    The Beauharnois ecocentre branch collection service is reserved exclusively for residents of Beauharnois.  The Ville de Châteauguay organizes twice a year branch collections  usually in spring and fall for the residents of Châteauguay. 

    Some other items are not accepted for the residents of Châteauguay such as : mattresses, couches, sofas, futons, outdoor furniture, etc. However, these items can be collected on the same day as the waste collection. For more details, see Bulky items section.

  • Bringing your materials to an ecocentre is an important effort as most items can enjoy a new life. In general, slightly more than 80% of materials brought to ecocentres can be recycled.
