Marcel DeschampsCouncillor for District 5 – De Salaberry
With the exception of a brief period between 2003 and 2005, I have been a municipal councillor since 1987, representing District 5 – De Salaberry . I am originally from Beauharnois and I have been living in Châteauguay since 1970. In 2019, I lost my lovely wife, Marie-Claire Smith, after nearly 50 years of a marriage that brought us four children and eight grandchildren. Now retired, I devote all my time to being a councillor.
Before retirement, I worked for several years as a production foreman. I have represented the city on various committees, including the municipal housing board (Office municipal d’habitation de Châteauguay), Transports Accès and the urban planning advisory committee (Comité consultatif d’urbanisme). I also sit on the Board of Gestaforme, the firm that manages the Polydium sports centre. Châteauguay is a dynamic city and I believe it is growing ever-better. I am proud to be able to contribute to this in my own way.
