Washing vehicles, driveways, sideways and other

A variety of rules apply to washing:

  • Vehicles
  • Driveways, sidewalks, patios and the exterior walls of buildings

Applicable standards

WASHING VEHICLES

Authorized period

  • At all times, unless a water-use restriction or ban is in effect. To find out, please see the AlertEAU page.

Particular conditions

  • Use a bucket or watering hose equipped with a nozzle that does not allow the water to run continuously.
WASHING DRIVEWAYS, SIDEWALKS, PATIOS OR THE EXTERIOR WALLS OF BUILDINGS

Authorized period

  • From April 1 to May 15 or during paint, construction, renovation or landscaping work that justifies the cleaning. Nevertheless, you must ensure that no water-use restriction or ban is in effect. To find out, please see the AlertEAU page.

Particular conditions

  • Use a bucket or watering hose equipped with a nozzle that does not allow the water to run continuously.
PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES

It is strictly prohibited to use drinking water to melt snow or ice on driveways, land, patios or sidewalks.
