COVID-19: Enforcement of Curfew by SPC
Published on 01 January 2021
The Service de police de Châteauguay (SPC) recognizes the seriousness of the current situation and the importance of ensuring compliance with the public health measures announced by the government. The SPC will deploy the necessary staff to apply these measures rigorously given the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in our region.
As of Saturday January 9, a curfew is in effect in Quebec until February 8. Between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Quebecers must not leave their homes or yards, with some exceptions.
Police officers may intervene when individuals are outside their homes during non-permitted hours. They will actively intervene when individuals do not respect the curfew. Offenders face fines of $1,000 to $6,000 if they are unable to adequately justify why they are outside the home. Young people aged 14 to 17 are liable to receive a fine of $500.
To enable individuals who are travelling during the curfew because of their work to readily demonstrate that such travel is legitimate, employers are asked to download, complete and sign the form Attestation de l’employeur – Déplacement durant le couvre-feu décrété par le gouvernement du Québec (available only in French).https://www.quebec.ca/en/health/health-issues/a-z/2019-coronavirus/confinement-in-quebec/
