Ville de Châteauguay relaunch the development of its industrial park

Published on 23 January 2022

The Ville de Châteauguay is pleased to inform the community and its businesspeople that operations to relaunch the development of its industrial park have begun.

This follows the green light given by the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MELCC) for the Châteauguay municipal council, in collaboration with the Direction de l’aménagement du territoire, to launch a call for proposals in fall 2021 aiming to allow the sale of almost 4 million square feet of vacant land for the establishment of new small and medium-sized industrial businesses in the industrial park. 3.5 million square feet of wetlands will be preserved and excluded from all future development.

Sustainable development

As part of the circular economy movement, the Ville aims to welcome new investors based on selection criteria combining the matters of sustainable development and the economy—in particular, by requiring the eco-responsible use of natural resources and through synergistic collaboration between companies in order to optimize the use of resources at all stages of the life cycle. In addition, particular attention should be paid to businesses who are committed to getting involved in the community.

Economic benefits

The sale of the land will begin as of 2022. This initiative will bring new sources of income of between $33 million and $37 million for the city in the coming years, in addition to income from transfer duties and taxes. This will also allow the creation of new direct and indirect jobs in the region.

About the Châteauguay Industrial Park

Conveniently located on the edge of Autoroute 30 and close to the American border and Ontario, the 24.6 million sq.ft. industrial park brings together over 180 diverse businesses employing more than 2,800 workers. This is one of the most important areas for the creation of new jobs in the city.

Anyone who wishes to obtain more information is invited to contact the Direction de l’aménagement du territoire on 450 698-3859 and to visit the City’s website.

The Châteauguay industrial park has an extraordinary power of attraction for investors due to the rarity of industrial land available in the Greater Montreal region (CMM).
