March 29 to 31 : 12th Festival Accès Danse

From Friday, March 29 to Sunday, March 31, the Ville de Châteauguay will present the 12th edition of Festival Accès Danse. The event’s program ranges from breathtaking choreographies and outstanding master classes leaving room for the creative aspect to performances of the next generation full of energy and enthusiasm.

Starting on Friday, March 29 at 8 p.m., the festivities will begin at the Pavillon de l’île with THREESIXNIE by Tentacle Tribe, a show that takes the protagonists on a surrealistic journey between life and death through a dynamic interpretation of the concept of the circle of life. On Saturday, March 30 at 3:30 p.m., the festival will present in the Serge-Boisvert auditorium of Louis-Philippe-Paré School, Qui bougera le dernier?, a Dance Battle where professional and amateur dancers are paired, offering a unique opportunity for participants to dance with pros, in addition to benefitting from their advice and support during the dance competitions. An electrifying combat hosted by a guest MC and disk jockey! In the evening, at 8 p.m., it’s back to the Pavillon de l’île for Rose of Jericho, where Andrew Skeels, former Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal dancer, will use the Middle East rose as a metaphor for transcultural pollination, with an eclectic cast of seven dancers with different backgrounds. Finally, on Sunday, March 31, the public will have the unique opportunity to see the talents of tomorrow with Cédez le passage à la relève, when school groups take over the stage to live a most informative and enriching experience. This last show, which will wind up the festival, will be presented at the Serge-Boisvert auditorium at 3 p.m.

On Saturday, March 30, the public is invited to discover all the different forms of dance by participating in master class workshops from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at école Louis-Philippe-Paré. A wide range of workshops will be given by leading names in dance, including Ariane Boulet, Simon Ampleman, Mila Thé and Skeels Danse. Participants will also have the opportunity to perfect their knowledge of numerous dance styles, e.g., breakdance, hip-hop, swing and ballet, not to mention related disciplines such as acroyoga, improvisation and theatre.
