Info-neige – Overnight parking and follow-up of snow removal operations
The Info-neige Service allows you to know on a daily basis whether the ban on street parking at night applies or not during the winter season. It also allows you to follow the progress of snow clearing and removal operations carried out by the municipality.
Overnight parking is prohibited in winter between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., except when the ban is lifted. In general, ban reliefs are in effect when no snow removal operations are planned on the territory.
When the ban is lifted, overnight street parking is permitted on the side of even addresses only.
A ban relief is also announced on the Ville de Châteauguay’s Facebook page and on the Info-neige hotline at 450-698-3300.
If your street is mentioned on the list of exceptions, you do not have to consult the ban relief since they do not apply to your street. In winter, overnight parking is therefore prohibited on your street at all times.
In the event of non-compliance with the by-law, higher fines will be given to offenders. The amount of the fine now varies between $75 and $150, plus fees.
In the event of non-compliance with the by-law, the City may have a vehicle towed at the owner’s expense. Towed vehicles are taken to a location as close as possible to the place of the offence.
The parking lot of the Agora (75 boulevard Maple) and Saint-Joachim Church (1 boulevard D’Youville) have been selected to receive these vehicles. Other sites will be added shortly.
The pilot project ends on April 1, 2021. If the trial is successful, the by-law amendments could be adopted permanently. For more information on the municipal by-law concerning parking, see the Parking – Winter and streetside page.
Follow-up of snow removal operations
This service was set up to inform the population about the progress of operations. It also allows municipal crews and private snow removal contractors duly registered with the municipality to coordinate their operations in order to improve efficiency.
