Info-neige – Overnight parking and follow-up of snow removal operations
The Info-neige Service allows you to know on a daily basis whether the ban on street parking at night applies or not during the winter season. It also allows you to follow the progress of snow clearing and removal operations carried out by the municipality.
Overnight parking
Under current municipal regulation, parking on the streets at night is prohibited between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., from December 1 to April 1 of the following year.
However, it is possible to park your vehicle during this period when no prohibition notice is issued by the municipality.
This permission to park your vehicle applies only to the even numbered side of the streets and is applicable to the entire territory, with the exception of streets where signs already prohibit parking and streets appearing on the list of exceptions.
The notices of the parking ban or permission is indicated as of 5 p.m. on our different communication tools. Notices of parking bans or permissions are also announced on:
- Our Facebook page
- Our Info-neige phone line at 450 698-3300
- MonDossier notifications by registering at mondossier.ville.chateauguay.qc.ca
-
In order to allow for the passage of emergency vehicles at all times, parking permits do not apply to streets that are 6.5 meters wide or less. The same applies to certain private streets and to areas where parking is already prohibited by signage.
Consult the list of streets where winter overnight parking is prohibited at all times
-
In the event of non-compliance with the regulation on overnight parking, fines will be issued to the offenders. The amount of the fine varies between $100 and $150, plus costs.
-
In the event of non-compliance with the regulation, the City may, at the owner’s expense, have a vehicle towed in order to move it. The towed vehicles are taken to a place located as close as possible where they were towed from.
The parking lots at the Agora (75 boulevard Maple) and Saint-Joachim Church (1 boulevard D’Youville) have been identified to receive the vehicles.
Follow-up of snow removal operations
This service was set up to inform the population about the progress of operations. It also allows municipal crews and private snow removal contractors duly registered with the municipality to coordinate their operations in order to improve efficiency.
